Am I a feminist or a womanist? The student needs to know..

h/t Sylvia:

“There are a hundred ways to skip between the cracks of our not-so-credible cultural assumptions about race and religion. Most people are surprised that my father is Chinese, like there is some kind of preconditioned look for the half Chinese lesbian poet who used to be Catholic but now believes in dreams…. ”

  1. Ohhh I love Staceyann Chin.

BTW, nice place you got here. . .

  2. Any chance of a transcript for people who are either hearing impaired or whose computers YouTube doesn’t work on?

  3. i searched for a transcript (via google) for those same reasons and no such luck. i hate that because the only time you can share spoken word pieces with deaf friends is if you play it over and over to catch every word, which can be a little difficult.

  4. she is really fucking good! thanks for sharing it!

on a much less amazing note, i don’t know if you do memes, but i tagged you in one (feel free to ignore)

  5. Wow, I have tears in my eyes. She’s amazing. Thank you for sharing this.

  6. You can see the whole text of the poem on Staceyann’s blog, or order one of her chapbooks!
